Soak your feet in strong black tea or coat them in tincture of benzoin. The acids in both of these will help strengthen the skin on your feet. Stronger skin means less of a chance of a blister forming.
TRICK #2
Double up on socks. Many hikers like to wear a thin pair of liner socks inside their thicker wool hiking socks. Instead of your skin rubbing against the one sock, the liner will slide inside the thicker sock, absorbing the friction that commonly causes blisters.
TRICK #3
Break in your boots! The easiest and yet most commonly overlooked preparation for hiking is to wear your new boots around for a while before taking them hiking. Once the material has loosened, your feet will fare much better on a long hiking day. Wear them around the house, to work, or even on thetreadmill at the gym.
