Тактически брюки, как одна из разновидностей брюк была разработана известным альпинистом Роялом Роббинсом (Royal Robbins). Именно он предложил использовать стропу в задней части брюк, напоминающую элемент страховки, за который альпинисты крепят себя карабином.
Как гласит история, однажды агент ФБР из штата Колорадо, который тоже был заядлым альпинистом, заприметил брюки, созданные Роббинсом.
